New Friends and New News

This week at the beach has literally been wonderful. I got to spend a great time with my family AND yesterday I made friends I know I will never ever forget. Molly, Allie, and Katelyn (left to right in picture below) are literally the most down to earth, sweetest, and funniest girls I have ever met on a vacation. I'm usually the girl that keeps to herself and is kind of awkward but I prayed that God would give me the chance to meet some amazing new friends and He delivered way farther than I asked or imagined. Not only did He give me 1 new amazing friend, He gave me 3 absolutely gorgeous new friends(:
Now the story of how we met is what I love.

I was in the lobby (like I have been every day this week) and I was looking at blogs and stuff and really needed to get my ear buds to listen to music but I didn't want to have to take all my stuff including my computer all the way upstairs and back down to the lobby. So I needed to find someone to watch me junk while I went upstairs to get my ear buds. Not too much later, these lovely girls came up the stairs from the pool and I just said "Hey would y'all mind watching my stuff while I run up to my condo to get my ear buds?" They were totally cool with it and I came down and I introduced myself and they did too and that was the end of that. Remember this was Wednesday night. So Thursday I was going to lay out by the pool and I saw an empty chair next to Allie and decided "why not!" and asked if I could sit there. They said sure and we talked for hours and got in the pool and hot tub and long story short, we are besties now! God truly did provide for me this week and I am so grateful I met each of them!

Now I get to brag about each one of them(:

The cheerful one. Molly always has a smile on her face. When I first met her, she had the biggest smile on her face and I just loved that! She's so easily approachable and we are alike! She hates roller coasters, I have roller coasters. She hates tanning on the beach. I hate tanning on the beach. We are basically the same person. Haha. Well I miss you Molly and I hope we can see each other sometime soon!

The calm one. Allie is the one that said I could sit next to them at the pool. She just had this vibe about her that was so cool and collected that I really liked. She isn't one that is seeking for attention, but would rather listen to others speak and have the focus not on her. Which is SO admirable!! I love you so much Allie and I can't wait to hopefully see you again soon!

The fierce one. Where do I even begin with Katelyn. She is just an amazing burst of energy that made me laugh almost every time words came out of her mouth. Katelyn is so humble and funny, and at times weird but that's why I love her! She is so fierce(: Oh also. When I asked her and the other girls to watch my stuff Wednesday night, she was convinced they were going to win money depending on how long they stayed like what happens on T.V.. Yeah that;s Katelyn for you. Well I miss you oh so very much and hope to reconnect sometime soon!

Each of these girls are just so wonderful. I can't imagine this group of friends without one of them. They each contribute so much to their friendship and I am SO happy I got to meet them and consider them as some of my closest friends now. I love each of you girls(:

Ok so now for my news. I leave for Barbados on Monday! I won't be able to blog from Monday until Sunday. I will give a full report when I come back though! And then school starts on that Thursday so these next 2 week are going to be very hectic...

Right now I am sitting in the lobby about to leave for the road and I'm reminiscing on all the amazing events that happened this week and that will be for tomorrow's post(:

Someone's prayer request: Please pray for all the teens in my ministry today that are going tubing in Helen! I pray they all stay safe and no one comes home with scrapes or bugs...

My prayer request: Please pray I keep my sanity throughout these next 2 weeks. I have been so overwhelmed with school work and all that I just need to remember God is in control and I need to put my trust in him.

The Story Behind The Name

won·der·ful

/ˈwəndərfəl/
Adjective
Inspiring delight, pleasure, or admiration; extremely good; marvelous.

thrift·y

/ˈTHriftē/
Adjective
(of a person or their behavior) Using money and other resources carefully and not wastefully.

Google didn't have the definition of "wonderfully" but wonderful is just as good. Let me give you a little background information. Over the past few months, I have been saying "wonderful" to describe basically anything I come into contact with...That's it.

Anyone that knows me knows I love going to the thrift store. I seriously don't see any point in spending $20 on a new shirt when I could get something similar at the thrift store for around $3. Plus, I have to pay for everything I want, clothes included. I do not have a job. I do not have a money tree in my backyard. My wallet only stretches so far and a thrift store is perfectly in my budget. Also, the definition clearly says that being thrifty is using money carefully not wastefully. Sure I love to go to the mall, but I don't find it necessary to blow through so much money so fast. That's it.

I just thought that this name was so perfect to describe me and what to expect on this blog. You will find a mixture of things I find fashionable, some DIY tutorials, my spiritual walk, and my life. I love being able to write out things that happens through my life because it just seems so much more official that it happened once it's typed. I don't know. I'm weird.

I also was just thinking as I was typing this post about how I want to put a prayer request of my own, and for someone else at the end of each entry. I just think it would be a nice tradition to start. Well I'm done now. I apologize for being so lackadaisical with blogging but I truly do promise that posts are coming and they will be better than ever! Night everyone!

Prayer request for someone: Please pray for my friend Matt. He lives in Nigeria and is terribly sick and I just want him to feel better as soon as possible.

Prayer request for me: Please pray that this sun burn goes away soon. Oh and that there is little or no peeling. Ew.

It's the Start of Something New

I'm starting fresh. No more thirteenosity. Seeing that I'm no longer 13...I thought it was only suitable to kill the name. Let me catch you up on..life. This summer is in a way similar to past summers in the sense that I am super busy, but very different in the sense that I get to go on different adventures. To start off, I get to serve at my church's vacation bible school in a few weeks. That following Sunday, I get to go to the most safe and amazing places I've ever attended and that is The Swamp. I have had the privilege of attending ever since I was 9 and I plan on keeping it that way and continue to build relationships and memories. Fast forward to the second to last week of July and I get to go on an amazing family vacation with my wonderful family. Literally 2 days after we get back, I get on a plane to go to...BARBADOS! I am so grateful that I am able to take a mission trip to Barbados with The Swamp and I ask for prayers since this is my first time out of the country...but also that I am able to impact some camper's life that week.

I know this summer will be filled with new opportunities and eye opening experiences that I can't wait to start, but 3 days after I get back from Barbados I walk through the doors of high school for the very first time. I've been asked if I'm nervous at all, and my response to everyone has been "80% excited, 20% nervous." I mean I think it would be unrealistic to say I wasn't a tad bit nervous for the new chapter these next 4 years bring.

So again, I want this blog to be my place where I can share my feelings on certain topics, share my travels and experiences I go through, and hopefully have some fun with fashion and diy stuff(: So in the name of High School Musical, "this is the start of something new."
